Job Summary: We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Orchard and Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and strategic development of our plant- and crop-based farming operations. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of all aspects of crop production, orchard management, soil health, irrigation, pest control, and harvest activities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in horticulture, agronomy, or sustainable crop production and will be committed to optimizing yield, quality, and long-term soil productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Crop and Orchard Management

• Plan and manage the cultivation of fruit trees, vegetables, grains, and/or specialty crops based on the farm’s production goals.

• Develop and execute seasonal crop plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and harvesting timelines.

• Oversee pruning, thinning, trellising, grafting, and other orchard-specific tasks.

• Monitor plant health and implement integrated pest and disease management strategies.

• Coordinate organic fertilization programs based on soil tests and crop needs.

Operations & Staff Supervision

• Supervise and train field staff, ensuring safety protocols and best practices are followed.

• Schedule daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks for planting, irrigation, maintenance, and harvesting.

• Operate and maintain farm equipment such as tractors, sprayers, and cultivation tools.

• Manage procurement of seeds, fertilizers, tools, and other inputs.

Irrigation and Soil Management

• Design and oversee irrigation systems to ensure optimal water use and plant health.

• Monitor soil conditions and recommend amendments to maintain soil fertility and structure.

• Keep records of soil tests, crop performance, and nutrient applications.

Harvest & Post-Harvest

• Manage the timing, logistics, and labor associated with harvesting.

• Ensure post-harvest handling, storage, and packaging meet quality and food safety standards.

Record-Keeping and Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of crop performance, pest management, fertilizer use, and yields.

• Ensure compliance with local agricultural regulations and food safety standards.

• Contribute to reporting and evaluation of farm productivity.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience managing orchard and/or crop production operations.

• Strong understanding of crop cultivation techniques, plant physiology, pest/disease management, and soil science.

• Familiarity with sustainable or regenerative agriculture practices is a plus.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to operate and maintain agricultural machinery and irrigation systems.

• Proficient in farm management software or record-keeping tools is an asset.

• Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role requiring work in all weather conditions.

Early morning, weekend, and seasonal overtime hours may be required.

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing manual labor tasks as needed.
